Grants of up to $8,000 to USA nonprofit organizations, land managers and agencies, local climbing organizations, and individuals to protect and restore mountain climbing areas. Funding is intended to help create healthy climbing landscapes, empower local climbing communities, and promote respect for climbing locations.
The American Alpine Club looks to local climbing communities to identify areas in need of conservation, restoration, and educational resources for visitors.
Projects must:
Since 2011, this program has awarded grants for projects as varied as building or improving trail networks to climbing areas; establishing new toilet facilities and signage at trailheads; and deploying a variety of community groups for clean-up and graffiti removal at local crags.
Estimated Size of Grant:
Successful applicants have 18 months to complete projects.
