Grant Description

Award of $4,000 to a USA, Canada, or International early-career clinical psychologist to recognize accomplishments and potential within the field. Accomplishments may take many forms including:

  • Promoting the practice of clinical psychology through professional service.
  • Innovation in service delivery
  • Novel application of applied research methodologies to professional practice

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Requirements
- Nominees should be no more than 10-years post doctoral degree.
- Be a psychologist with an EdD, PsyD, or PhD from an accredited university
- Individuals who represent diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation.
- Candidates can be simultaneously considered for multiple awards, although a psychologist may receive only one Div. 12 award in any given year.
- No voting members of the Div. 12 board of directors will be eligible to receive awards from the division while serving their term.
- Self-nomination is permitted.

International applicants from countries that have diplomatic relations with the United States and who meet the other eligibility requirements may apply for APF funding.

To receive APF funds, recipients must be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.

APF Trustees must wait one year after their term of service before they can be considered for a grant or an award.

APF does not allow institutional indirect costs or overhead costs.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline: January 1, 2023

Applications are due at 11:59 p.m. on the due date posted on APF’s website.

Nominations are accepted from self or others.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval is required for any research project involving human participants.

APF tries to announce grant recipients approximately two to three months after a grant deadline, though the exact time may take shorter or longer depending on the number of applications received.

You can apply to as many APF programs as you like. Researchers can win multiple awards for different projects. Each individual project, however, can only win once. This means that if you win funding for your project, that specific project will be removed from consideration for future funding opportunities from APF.
