Grant Description

Fellowships of $8,000 to USA, Canada, and International conservation professionals to attend a one-month training program in Washington. The program curriculum will be taught by a faculty of international experts who will work closely with fellows to explore new methods of applying market-based approaches to environmental issues.

The month-long, in-residence Fellowship focuses on market-based solutions in conservation and cultivates your leadership skills in the sector. Through interactive discussions, systems-thinking exercises, and peer-learning sessions, Fellows engage with stories and innovative solutions to overcome complex challenges that they can apply to their own work.

Kinship Fellows join a community of practitioners, innovators, and leaders, who continue to network and collaborate to address environmental challenges. Their global network of 314 Fellows spans 58 countries across 7 continents.

The month-long fellowship is the beginning of years of close partnership with your cohort as well as this global network. Fellows continue to share knowledge, advice, mentorship, funding opportunities, professional development, and more. Past Fellows have returned to serve as program faculty; helped convene regional learning summits for the network; and collaborated with one another on research and project implementation. Kinship Conservation Fellows become a community of support you can rely on throughout your career.

Eligibility:

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

This program is seeking conservation leaders with at least five years of on-the-ground experience in conservation, who are involved with the implementation of market-based approaches to solve environmental problems and ready to be part of an expanding community of global leaders. Applicants commonly hold positions in nonprofit organizations, government, or the private sector.

Successful applicants will be familiar with business and economic principles and work in a setting where these principles can be integrated with conservation work.

In order to be considered for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Possess a minimum of a four-year U.S. college degree (or its overseas equivalent).
- Have a minimum of five years relevant work experience, after your degree.
- Be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Be a conservation practitioner (rather than an academic or researcher).

Pre-Application Information:

- Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM US Central Standard Time on January 15, 2023.
- Applications that are in progress but have not been submitted by this deadline will not be considered.
- Letters of recommendation should be uploaded to the system by the letter writer by Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Fellows receive a stipend of US$8000, net of customary U.S. tax withholding.
